Follow-up Helsinki Meeting 2026
Follow-up Helsinki Meeting 2026

Last week, the BetterCare Helsinki Meeting 2026 took place in Helsinki, bringing together experts and stakeholders from different countries to focus on one key goal: improving patient safety in informal caregiving at home.

Across two days, the programme included talks, workshops, and collaborative sessions around shared priorities such as preventing caregiver errors, ensuring safer care transitions, and building practical support for caregivers and care recipients.

💡 Key topics ranged from safety risks in home care (like medication errors or communication gaps) to the emotional impact on caregivers, as well as the role institutions can play beyond clinical settings.

✨ The meeting led to very positive outcomes:

  • Progress towards a shared definition of patient safety in informal caregiving
  • A clearer picture of existing national initiatives
  • Stronger international collaboration moving forward
